Picked up two new toys today

Chris, hold fast bc they are slowly making progress on selling them w/in the states. Hell, you can pick up 416 uppers for sale (assuming you can legally purchase them). What I found interesting about the 416/7 is the use of the standard lands/grooves rather than the polygonal boring.
I can probably get a 416 upper, but they're all marked "For Govt/LE Use Only". I could probably get away with that too, but I'd rather not have to explain it to some podunk cop some day...

Oh dear god... Just say no to HK!!!!
I got to play with one, and it is nice, but... Not worth dealing with HK.
I don't wanna hijack, so I'll keep it brief by saying that I'd take my LWRC any day, all day over the HK's. (and the Patriot Ordinance 7.62 I've got on order).
Back to the normally scheduled thread...
Leave that EO on the LMT mang! EOTech rocks, and really is the most practical optic to have on a piece of art such as an M4orgery.
Josh, you ever thought of getting into 3 gun competitions? (I've never heard you mention about any such activity...) Man... It is the most fun you have have with firearms. Can't beat it! You get to go through three courses of scenario based fire replete with fun obstacles, and you get a work out! You're already VERY well equipped to give it a go! As soon as my left arm is back in shape, I'm going to get back into it.
Perhaps a TeamSpeed 3 Gun team is in order!
I just know that we can count on Chris... You... Anyone else?

I think the standard rifling is a MILSPEC thing. That means if HK wanted to, they could make the civilian version w/polygonal rifling. The combo of polygonal plus the new gas system would make cleaner easier than taking a leak.

choke, I understand your hesitation on HK's customer service especially for civilian products. However, if you haven't dealt with them lately, please give them another try because I've had very good to excellent CS from those guys lately. And yes, for the record, I do drink the koolaid; heck I might be a pusher
Finally, I also purchase and respect other manufacturers out there as well...I give credit to where it is due

I have TONS of experience with HK. I am a "true believer" - their stuff has never failed me, whether on the range or in real life.
I've fired thousands of rounds through 416s, both 10" and 14" and they are incredible performers. Generally we use EO-Techs, though some have iron sights (HK-style with the rotary drum rear). I have also used many, many M4 variants and I'd only buy KAC or LMT with my own money. I know some guys love Rock River, but I just am not 100% sure. Bushmaster is fine for civilian plinking, etc., but I wouldn't bet my life on one.

I hear ya amigo, I truly do... A friend of mine was in on those peashooters from a testing stand point, and I got to play with them then. I just don't like HK's over all attitude anymore. Hell... when I was in the Army, I wasn't a fan of the MP5's, and never have been. Pieces of fragile plastic, meh..
I've got some good access beyond the civvie versions, and just can't get a warm and fuzzy on em. Just too many other options to choose from. May stem from growing up as "that" kid that'd not do something, or get something because it was the "in" thing. I think I'm wired to go against the grain.

A friend of mine frequents a range that has a combat area. I think they offer a competition like what you are talking about. It sounds like fun. I also have access to the local police range and can shoot with them when they train with the much cooler class 3 weapons.
These days I rarely have time to do anything, but I decided I really wanted to do more shooting and that prompted my purchases today.
