I never had to hide me gun. The kids were raised and trained never, ever go into my stuff. Never. It was a house rule. Started drilling it into their head before they could talk.
Never had a problem.

Lessons learned: The experience in all armed forces shows, that the result of the very existence of weapons inevitably leads to accidents. One cannot be careful enough.
