N.Y. mayor says he’d raise funds for anti-NRA effort
Bloomberg News / August 10, 2009

NEW YORK - Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he would raise money for a national campaign to counter the political influence of the National Rifle Association, building on the recent defeat of federal legislation that would have eased prohibitions against carrying concealed weapons.

“You know, the NRA doesn’t spend that much money,’’ said Bloomberg during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press’’ program yesterday. “If you want to beat the NRA you have to go out and get your message out, and it costs money to do that.’’

NRA President Wayne LaPierre didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Bloomberg has already contributed about $2.9 million to “Mayors Against Illegal Guns.’’ The organization of 450 city chiefs, founded in 2006 by Bloomberg and Mayor Thomas M. Menino of Boston, lobbied to persuade the Senate to defeat a measure that would have allowed gun owners to carry concealed weapons across state lines.

Bloomberg said he has no quarrel with the US Constitution’s guarantee of the right to bear arms, and that the money would go to “explain to Congress’’ that federal law prohibits criminals from owning guns.

Did you guys read the article?

"Augusto's gun was properly registered with police, and he does not face any charges, authorities said. "

Personally, I think MORE people need to speak up and challenge the utter bullshit these lame duck politicians are smoking out of their manginas.

At the rate our politicians are trying to crack down on personal freedoms, they should stop and learn from history:

This year will go down in history. For the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient and the world will follow our lead into the future.

P.S. no I do not sympathize with the robbers.
Not to mention that if the person where shot in the side, the media report and prosecutor can and have substituted "shot in the back" for "shot in the side" due to where the round(s) ended up after entering the body. It happened in another case many years ago where a guy working for HK defended himself when he was chased down for several miles by some pissed off bikers.

Let's not convolute the topic. If my memory isn't failing me, the HK incident was very unique in that it involved FULL AUTO weapons.

Dude,

You live in a free state.

Things work differently in communist states where DA's can and will press charges for legal shootings. And the court most certainly will hear civil suits from grieving families of perps, and juries would likely award damages as well.

I mean, some women were trying to put csndles in front of his store for crying out loud. Who do you think they will side with in trial?

I disagree, WE ALL LIVE IN A FREE NATION. Unfortunately, a handful of folks who consider themselves as elitist are trying to enforce their beliefs upon us, the people. If anything, it should be folks like you who take a stand and push back against this absolute BS that is being ramrodded down our throats.

The legislation that the assbags from NY & CA are yanking out of their ass is slowly poisoning the rest of the union, and I for one refuse to stand by idle. There is so much you can do LEGALLY and FISCALLY that gets the point across that idiots like Bloomberg and Pelosi have no right to stand in front of the US flag and claim they have the best interests of the nation in mind.

I'm not trying to come across as a hardass, but it disgusts me to the core on watching this beautiful nation get dragged down with actions that could almost be considered as treason. The last time I checked the Constitution: Article IV of the Constitution of the United States "guarantee[s] to every State in this Union a Republican form of Government.", and right now, it sure as hell doesn't seem that way. I can't help but have Cicero's words reverberate through my mind on what is now happening. And yes, I am now off my soapbox and have my flame suit on

Copied for completeness:
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.

Absolutely it was a unique situation. However the weapon used makes no difference on the observation I made regarding the criminal being "shot in the back" and how that was presented as an attempt to charge the shooter with murder by the prosecutor during the Gary Fadden incident.

The man he had shot. Billy “Too Loose” Hamilton, was dead. He had been hit by all six rounds of Winchester 55 grain FMJ, headstamped “‘WCC81.” One bullet had struck behind the lateral midline in the instant that he turned away from the gunfire, taking out a chunk of his spine as is skidded across his back from side to side. This would be interpreted later by the prosecutor as having been “shot in the back.”

Well, we are life members of NRA and GOA. We have never and will never vote for Boxer, Feinstein, and Pelosi.

But these anti 2nd'ers continue to stay in office.

So, other than the eventual moving out of here, what else is there to do?
