Whats with the obsession of guys who collects dozens of ammo magazines?
I have figured it out yet, but whats with the obsession with some gun guys collecting dozens of magazines for the same weapon? I see this with a lot of people. I just haven't figured it out. At first I was thinking maybe magazines go bad after awhile, but it doesn't seem to be the case. I have owned a lot of guns with ammo loaded in the magazine and stayed there for a year straight and still cycle perfectly at the range.
Zombies really coming or what? haha I'm just curious why I haven't gotten the itch to buy dozens of magazine for the same weapons. I am content with every weapon of mine having two magazines.
Hopefully someone here knows.

I was gonna post and talk shit about that guy.... but when I counted the mags I realize that I have about that many also! Oh well...
When they had the federal high cap mag restrictions back in the mid 90's... all mags with more than 10 rounds went for stupid amounts of money... like $30 each for the AR ones... I bought a few cheap 30 rounders before and when you go out to shoot them and half of them don't work... you want to get nice ones... I had a opportunity to get a bunch for cheap, so I bought them... now I have them in case they ban them again.

Cool996 has the right idea on stocking up with high cap mags before we get slapped with a silly ban.
Also, there are many reasons for having several mags:
-Mags are considered to be disposable with repeated use and abuse...they get cracked, broken or lost. It's good to have several around.
-If you've ever been in a class, you will understand the obsession of having a lot of magazines around...loading magazines SUCK (not to mention the high potential of losing or breaking several).
-Most importantly, you can't call time-out to load magazines when the zombies come.
And yes, I have more mags than I care to tally the amount of cash I've spent purchasing them - especially the ones marked HK.
Edit - Good grief, if I was going to talk any shit about that gun, I'd have to say lose the forward pistol grip + light broomstick setup. It's not a friggin tommy gun.
