I've never had a light strike or FTF with factory ammo in a Glock or Kimber. I wouldn't get on an airplane with a 0.5-1% chance of crashing, so I won't carry a gun which in my experience has a similar chance of failing.
It's unfortunate you had a bad experience. While I don't have a 20 year history with Sigs, my Sig P226 in .40 S&W has never once had any sort of malfunction in the couple thousands rounds I have shot it. Not one misfeed, not one fail to fire, not one failure to extract or eject. The slide locks back every single time the mag is empty. This is with probably a dozen different types of cheap ball ammo and various hollow points, and I don't always keep it perfectly clean. Every single time I pull the trigger it goes bang, clears the brass and loads the next round. So I am pretty confident in it's reliability when it counts.

My best bud's Kimber hasn't been so lucky. He had several ejection issues early on and had to send it back to replace the extractor. Since getting it back it has only has been very good with only a couple malfunctions.

It has been well documented that the .40 cal Glock 22 and 23 have some reliability issues, especially if you attach anything to the rail (such as a light). The recent comprehensive and rigorous testing by DHS also resulted in Sig and H&K winning huge contracts, Glock (and others) apparently didn't measure up:
SIGARMS and Heckler & Koch/HK Defense Win Major Pistol Contracts with DHS

Everything man made can fail. If you shoot any gun enough without proper maintenance eventually you will have a problem no matter what the brand. It seems the DHS tests show that while the Glocks are certainly reliable, they compete best when their lower price carries more weight on the final decision.

Hi Guys -

A lot of you have been asking about typical costs on various Sigs. To give you an example :

My cost on basic P229 model is $695 (msrp $975).
I would just charge an additional $100 + shipping for the Total price.
Not really making much on these but enjoy the hobby!
Let me know.
Thanks,
Gregg

Pics of each when the get in. Especially the 556! H&K man myself, but Sigs are good shooters as well. I'm getting a new AR and a H&K G3 this weekend or early next week, pics to follow.
