Installing Suppressor

Installing Suppressor
Received my new LWRC M6A2 with a 16" barrel and would like to know what is involved in installing a suppressor. Is it as simple as unscrewing the flash suppressor and screwing on a "can"?
Should I take it to a gun smith and have him do it or can I do it?
Yes, I know I live in Minnesota and they are not allowed here.
but!

I have not decided on any manufacturer. At this point I am just trying to understand what is involved to attach/mount a suppressor to the weapon. If the flash suppressor on the rifle is threaded on can I just remove it by turning it? I do not want to damage the barrel. Local gun shops are no help as a suppressor in illegal here in Minnesota and they will not discuss it.

Depends on the maker and how you want it done. If you don't want an flash-hider/adapter, then you screw them on once you remove the original A2 flash-hider that comes on the LWRC. It doesn't take much to remove, but you can screw it up if you aren't giving it at least a few braincells worth of attention. The adapter approach allows you to maintain the convenience factor of having a flash-hider.
For the LWRC, if it's a 14" STANDARD barrel from the factory, the flash-hider is "permanently" attached so as to maintain the non-SBR compliance - a few guys on the LWRC board have managed to screw up their uppers because they weren't paying attention. If it's the 16" barrel, the flash-hider unscrews.
