Very nice! Never heard of Academy sports though... That would be some pretty sweet pricing.

Hmm... perhaps Waly world is pricing differently in different parts of the country. My partner picked up 250 for $50 last week.

So PT1911 for $480 or spring for the Kimber Custom II?

The answer to the first part, is that yes, you can buy a 22 lr slide. Some work better than others. The kimber set up is solid.

Go play with them both and see what feels better to you. I'm not arrogant enough to tell you which one you need to get. But I will say, definitely consider the Taurus. It has outshot any of my Kimbers out of the box. It wouldn't such to get the PT, and spend the other cash on gear like spare mags, holster, ammo, etc. and a range membership.

wallmart had white box winchester 9mm for 15 or 16 bucks a box of 100. I bought 10 box's. I usually buy american eagle .45 . Last gun show I went to didn't even have it. 6 months ago american eagle was 13.50 a box.

I bought 1000 rounds of american eagle .45 for $315.00 shipped. That was from Natchez shooters. It was 13.50 a box, but then there was like 50-60 for shipping. Ammoman has it for about the same price because shipping is free.

What are some good brands of ammo for the range? I have been doing a lot of reading on it and I am pretty amazed at how much rumors and fluff there is about various things in the gun world. So far I have gathered that Federal, Winchester, and Blazer are good enough for the range but to stay away from American Eagle? Can anyone confirm this? I bought some winchester white box at walmart last week for like 16 (100 rds) and it didn't seem to foul up the gun too much.

For home defense I was thinking of getting Car-Bon 9mm 115gr +p hollow points per the recommendation of a thread on another forum.

Dude! That is insane pricing! This is what I buy at academy for $76. Cheapest brass ammo I have found that doesnt completely suck.
