Nice second post, loaded with misinformation.

Have you seen the CA guns laws? Did you know that any AR type weapons cannot be legally brought into CA without crippling it with a bullet button with a 10 rounder only?

And did you miss Eric Holder and BHO's "I have not backed down on AWB" coverage?

Lastly, why is it that the liberal SCOTUS justices all dissented in Heller saying that the second amendment is the only non individual rights in the bill of rights?

That my friend, is the modern liberalism's stance on guns. They hate it, and they want to take it away from law abiding citiznes.

Unlike so many American gun owners apparently, I'm not so gullible that I buy into the Republican scare tactic of convincing gun owners that liberals want to take away their guns. Honestly, the Republicans have lied about everything else of importance since Reagan. I'm a proud East Coast liberal, as were most of our founding fathers. I learned to shoot handguns from a proud, Massachusetts liberal, and I wouldn't let anyone take my guns from me, neither would any of the people who taught me to shoot. If you think Obama wants your guns, you're probably digesting too much of the crap spewed by Fox News and Rush Limbaugh.

Unlike our last president, Mr. Obama is well educated and intelligent. He also has the problems brought on by the last 4 administrations to deal with, actually wants to deal with them, DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE AWAY OUR GUNS, and knows damn well that if he did want to and tried, he'd be at odds with a huge, well armed majority. He's smart, he'd never do it even if within his presidency he'd managed to solve global warming, our economy, the federal budget deficit, the middle East conflict AND the war against radical islam and thus found himself with nothing to do.

Rest easy gun owners, you can keep them all.

And turn off Fox News, its a right wing propaganda network posing as a legitimate news source. They themselves don't believe 90% of the lies they pollute your brains with. Neither does Rush Limbaugh, which is why he refuses to debate or even to let someone with an opposing viewpoint on his show.
I stopped reading after the 1st sentence. I guess you believe all these guns were bought legally right? Otherwise that means they're getting them illegallySo, you may agree but do you realize it's just getting harder for the law abiding citizens? The ones who follow the rules? Come on man.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.....We can all rest easy guys, just like they did in Great Britain and Australia. What an amazing bunch of crap. If you believe what you've written..........you're on a different planet, if not you're a troll.

I would love to hear what he has to say. I'm waiting for the "gun show loophole" comment myself.

I just read every word of the new act, and gun owners simply need to get a license. They need to pass a simple test, pay $25 and get a laminated card, just like getting a driver's license. What's the big hairy deal?

And, responding to earlier comments:

...."do you realize it's just getting harder for the law abiding citizens? The ones who follow the rules?"

Harder? How ****ing hard is it to get a license? I have a license to drive my car, another license to ride my Harley, and have almost completed requirements to be a licensed pilot. Boo hoo hoo!

...."I don't know whether to laugh or cry.....We can all rest easy guys, just like they did in Great Britain and Australia. What an amazing bunch of crap. If you believe what you've written..........you're on a different planet, if not you're a troll."

This isn't Great Britain or Australia, it's America and the government knows damn well it'll never take guns away from law abiding Americans. You think I live on "a different planet", perhaps I do. It's called a "university town". We have supernatural powers we call "rational, non-paranoid thought", and we're not scared of the changes our new president want's to bring.

I sort of suspect that these might be two of the more "intimidating" measures, conjuring up images of no-warrant searches of your home by people just looking for an excuse to confiscate any and all firearms they can get their hands on, and having to sit through a humiliating and degrading shrink-session every time you want to purchase a firearm. Save for the fingerprinting, isn't everything else in the above paragraph pretty much covered already in the background check, waiting period, required ID to purchase and so forth?

For those of you skilled in legalese: Regarding the to bits in bold, couldn't they be interpreted as though "they" (ATF?) reserve the right to check up once in a while, but really wouldn't be able to check everyone, and thus, they won't set give a specific number of days within purchase that they'll check the gun-buyer within? So they won't have some "check him within 20 days, or you can't check him at all"-style deadline?

Guitom: Take it easy, mate. I appreciate your views, and to be honest I agree with you to an extent, but the Teamspeed and it's (American) members does tend to have a conservative slant. That's how it is, and you got to respect that, otherwise you won't last very long. Ease up on the "university town" bit, a lot of these guys have quite a few notches in their acedemic gunhandle (Contrived, I know...). Not fronting, just saying. Welcome aboard, hopefully you'll stick around for more than just the dogfights.

Minirup:
I understand fiscal conservatism, but there has been a uniquely American paranoia regarding gun owners and their guns here for a long time. They're responding, mostly, to unfounded fears implanted by right wing nut jobs on the radio and TV who will say ANYTHING to turn the country against progressive agendas. Well educated people find it easier to know when they're being lied to, and so aren't likely to watch Fox news. Educated fiscal conservatives know better than to believe Rush Limbaugh is the true voice of conservativism.

I don't think that most of the guys on this site subscribe to Limbaugh or those like him, I just think they harbour a deeply rooted scepticism towards government, in any form. As to wether or not gunowners follow right-wing nut jobs blindly, I think we all turn a blind eye on something said at one time or another, even though we know it's not completely true, because we symphatize with the underlying values. I know I do, anyway. And as the 2nd Amendment issue tends to polarize the debate into black and white, I suspect this tendency grows stronger on both sides.
I live on the other side of the Atlantic, obviously, and thus, my impressions of American gunowners comes from what I read in various forums, the occasional online newsmedia and so on. And while I find much of the rhetoric very aggressive, and from time to time slightly paranoid, I realize that's it's just rehtorics. This is just an internet forum. Which beliefs they truly hold, I can't really say.
Anyway, just my opinion, and we all know what opinions are like.
