I went to my local gun shop to sign up for handgun classes. I've had experience with .22 can plinkers, but am a complete rookie at pistols. Amazingly, the Mrs. came along as well. She was extremely nervous when we entered, simply because she grew up in a firearm-less household. However, five minutes in she kept repeating "I think I wanna sign up too." One of the shop staff took us aside to their rental cabinet and spent about 45 minutes going over how a handgun works with her, explaining the differences between a revolver and semi-auto, how to work a slide, magazine release, etc. Coolest guy to talk to ever. Provided honest opinons on what would make a good home defense/carry gun and basically did everything he could to respectfully make her more comfortable with the idea of owning one. And it worked! She signed up for next months handgun class with me! So we're gonna try and get some range time in with a few different types to see which fit us best (I'm already leaning towards the XD-M9) before the class.

The Mrs. also took a cell phone pic of me. Rather shitty quality, but I think some of those guys would have been a little nervous about us toting a camera around the shop.
