one of my local car buddies has one and I have seen it in person and it is awesome. Ill try and find the pics and post them here. I think he has onl;y fired it once and it cost him around 3700 with a hard case bi pod ect. here is the break down on ammo prices according to him....

on the left the standard M4/M16 round and on the right the Barrett 50 Cal round.

quote from him
"i bought the M99 Kit which comes with pelican Hard case,Scope,Rifle,Bi-pod,cleaning kit and 30 rounds of ammo

price out the door was 3,700 cash,no tax

and depending on the ammo you want to shoot here's a price break down

Match grade ball 3.75-4.25 a round
incindary 3.00 a round
armor peircing 3.75
armor peircing and incindiary 4.00
raofuss 75.00 a round

and if you relaod it yourself(like i do) it cost about 1.50-1.75 a round"

Probably going to hold off on this, I would rather buy ammo, and by "buying ammo" I mean more brass, powder, and bullets cause I reload my own (brushing dirt off my shoulder).

There is a decent sized gun show coming to town next weekend which luckily coincides with my birthday, might have to stop buy and see if I can find any "investment opportunities."

OH man I get a hard on just looking at this thing.

Better yet, about 40 minutes away a club with a bunch of barrett owners goes and puts up pots and crap at up to a mile away and go plinking. Can you say, yes please. It's going to be a fun a summer.

Nice pick-up. Post some pics of it. Are you going to get the BORS system for it? If so, you may want to wait a bit as they are coming out with versions that will be compatible with Nightforce and Schmidt and Bender scopes I believe. I'm going for the Nightforce/BORS combo myself.

It probably isn't as bad as you think, the recoil doesn't seem to be too bad on these guns.

The weight and the muzzle brake greatly reduce felt recoil. However, there is still a very significant concussion when it is fired, and that is probably what is hard on optics.

That is an explosive round correct? Are those legal for civilians to have?

Oh, and can you have .50s in NY?
