Look at the cock up that was WWI in terms of tactics. The British were still fighting traditional style warfare, and didn't adapt to trench warfare.

Why would you send your troops over the top, into no mans land just to get them mowed down time and time again by machine gun bursts? Utterly idiotic.

And the british whom a few bays over from Gallipoli simply sat down on the beach and drank tea as the Turks were nowhere to be seen, whilst a few coves over at Anzac Cove, Aussies and Kiwis were getting mowed down.

Pride of the Generals and their utter stupidity.

Very few, if any, had even stepped foot on the battle field. They had a total lack of understanding of the conditions that were present and the tactics required, they were valetudinarians that refused to adapt or even consider other options until thousands and thousands died through their ignorance.

Don't even get me started on this, I studied WWII for years!
