DRIVE's Inside Koenigsegg Series Starts January 8th
by John Coyle
This Tuesday, DRIVE will premiere the first installment of its nine part look inside the Koenigsegg factory, and there's sure to be plenty of awesome info on the company, it's young founder, and most importantly, its flagship supercar, the Agera R. Personally, I can't wait. I have car-centric job in the most car-centric city on earth—Los Angeles—and I've seen Christian von Koenigsegg's cars only a handful of times—and never in the wild.
But the fact that these babies are rarer than unicorns isn't the only reason I'm interested. During the Gran Turismo Nurburgring back in April, an Agera R hit 250mph on the Green Hell's 1.5 mile straight. This wasn't a test, or a some high-profile record attempt, this was just an enthusiast owner having some fun with his car. Given the fact that Bugatti makes use of the 5.6 mile straight on VW's test track, it makes you wonder what speed it could have achieved if given a little more runway. Since the Agera R already owns the 0-300km/h-0 zero record—21.19 seconds—it has to make you wonder if the top speed crown might be within its reach as well.
Check out the teaser for the series and the clip of the 'Ring run below, and stay tuned for the first installment!

There is a real chance that the Agera R would be quicker than the Veyron SS.
So it is clear why VW dont want to rent their test track to Koenigsegg, they are affraid :P
However Bugatti is working on a new Veyron so their speed record would be probably short lived.
Anyway I love Koenigsegg and am really looking forward for this documentary.

From the Koenigsegg website concerning the first episode and series:
"In the first episode, Christian Von Koenigsegg reveals the secrets behind building automotive components from carbon fiber, the strong, lightweight material that’s crucial to modern high-performance cars. Future episodes will focus on engine development, interior and exterior design, suspension technology and product testing and tuning. New episodes will appear each Tuesday on YouTube.com/DRIVE throughout the series’ nine-show run.
”This video series will draw back the curtain on technological developments inside Koenigsegg’s R&D facility,” Christian von Koenigsegg says. ”The technologies that comprise today’s hypercars like the Koenigsegg Agera R, I am sure will be commonplace in the mass-produced vehicles of tomorrow. Viewers of this series will have a better understanding of how cars of the next 20 years will be different from the cars of today — how they’ll perform better, look better and be more efficient in every way.”
