Video: 5 Supercars Battle!

Interesting video for a number of reasons. I'm amazed at how fast the GTR is despite its weight. Then again, it's the only car with AWD so it can get the power down better than any other car in this test. I was also surprised at how easily the GT2RS blew the LFA away in the straights but couldn't quite outhandle it through some of the more technical corners. Most interesting was how far behind the ZR1 was compared to the front runners despite its power to weight ratio being the best of the 5 cars.

^^^! The 430 and the Vette that far behind?? MY BS meter is going crazy right now. Put Ron Fellows behind the wheel of the Z and its a much different ball game.

Word. We always knew BM favored homegrown cars just ever so slightly, but this was by far the most blatant case I've seen. The GT2 RS is arguably the hardest car to drive fast of the contenders (depending on how race-prepped the Ferrari was, that might be tricky too), and yet, the in-car shots show just how easy it was for the GT2 RS driver. He should have been past the LFA way earlier, and in the end, once its roadblock duties were finished, he was allowed to pass it, but by then, the GT-R was too far ahead to catch in the remaining time.
Ceteris paribus, the GT2 RS would have walked away from all of them, no question. Massive power advantage (putting down around 580 to the wheels), better torque curve, light weight, brilliant chassis, world-class brakes, and the rear-weight bias to put down the power out of the corners.
No disrespect to any of the other cars, though. Watching good drivers push them, it's amazing what any of these cars can do, and underscores just how much better the average supercar is than the average supercar driver these days. The GT-R just seems to have no respect for my most cherished laws of physics. A car that weight simply *shouldn't* perform this well. I was also surprised how sloppy the ZR-1 appeared to be in the corners. Perhaps a Z06 would have been a better match, despite the lower power.
