Where do you get a supercar serviced?
Just to set expectations, I'm only asking this out of pure curiosity. I grew up in Detroit and my father was a heavy mechanic. Sifting through this site, it reminded me of a story from my childhood. My dad was working for this shop when one day a guy came in with his brand new Countach. He brought it because, if I remember correctly, he had questions on how to use it. I always thought that odd, but not really the point.
Most people here with exotics like Lambos and Ferraris have a decent dealer network that they can take their car to these days. But how does it work with supercars? Does the manufacture fly a mechanic out to you? Would they have you ship it to them? I wouldn't assume that you could just have any mechanic look at it. If anything, you'd probably have to have a mechanic specifically trained for that vehicle. I get that conclusion because of the Countach story - the mechanics seemed a bit lost and surprised at how the car's internals were put together. But then again, this was the impression of an 8-year old kid.

No. I haven't lived there in years. I moved to Florida for about 11 years and have been in Seattle for almost 4. My parents still live there - well, outside of Flint. We're going to head there this summer to visit my folks.
That was my first thought, too.

Some manufacturers will fly out a mechanic (ie the F1 came with a tool chest for such occasions, and I believe Bugatti does so on a case-by-case basis). Others use regionally approved shops which may require you to ship the car.

In modern cars, the systems will be dictated by the ECU, so find the source for the engine (in this case, a Benz) and go to a qualified Mercedes tuning firm that will be familiar with high-output versions of this engine.
The same will be true for most other supercars - you can get Moslers serviced at Chevy stores (Corvette), Rossions at most Ford stores, etc.
