ABK, I think you may have got the wrong end of the stick on this one.

First off the Cinque's were commissioned by the dealer SPS in Hong Kong, it was not Pagani's idea to produce the car. They were never meant to be the end of the line.

Pagani had produced one off's before the Cinque project came about, the PS being the most notable example.

Pagani has incurred massive development costs on the C9, these have to be funded from somewhere. The recent one offs have produced that income. As has been said if someone turned up at your door wanting to spend over 1.5 million on a car, are you going to say no? Of course not.

Pagani are a small business, and like any small business they can live or die on cash flow.

None of the Cinque customers have complained about the new cars as they always new that variations were going to appear. At the end of the day there will only ever be ten Cinque’s in total, it still sounds like a pretty exclusive club to me.

This. Variations. It's still the same model.

It would've been terrible if they decided to make 20 Cinque after the fact (and call it Venti? ) ... kinda like what Ferrari did with the F40 ("we'll make 400 ... oh look at that, 1400 made it out of the factory!). A one off is still a one off, and a Cinque remains a Cinque, similar specs notwithstanding.

Agreed Zorro and the reality is the people buying the one off's probably really wanted a cinque. IMO the Cinque is more coveted than any of these one offs.

Its also been said that Pagani is running out of the Zonda engines and can only buy them in groups of 5 according to the owner of the HH so im sure that came into play as well.
