Are they ever going to update their website its seems very dormant, i've even read press articles that say they get no response when contacting SSC, whats up with that, no PR whatsoever seemingly?

I don't know the answers to your questions so I'll pass them along. Part of it has to do with a very small team working very long hours as it is. Lots of effort is now going into the next car.

Yea the lack of updates on the site has had me slightly concerned. I know they have been busy. The real question is what's going on with the EV they announced last year...

Also, I'd love to see photos, drawings and other stuff from the design and development of the car. Mclaren put out a book archiving the total process and its amazing to read over. Just a thought....

Again, they know all about the lack of PR and its effect on the public viewpoint. Two things to think about; they may have been more interested in building the car than selling it - that had an effect on how many they sold. If you look at the first years of any company trying to sell a product, it takes time to develop a worthwhile product, disseminate proper marketing and PR, and find people to pay money for your product. Everything doesn't just happen magically all at once. And that doesn't even account for the fact that we're talking about a high six figure product. Also, consider the fact that most potential buyers of a car like this are not going to let an out of date website be a deal breaker.

And think outside the box for a sec, consider that you're putting them up against Mclaren as a standard. Pretty big shoes to fill...one step at a time for a few guys working on one car at a time.

There are two separate but nearly identical white/black cars. Look closely at the pictures on SSC's website (you will need to view them in hi-res, and zoom in very closely). Also view other pictures online of these two cars. The early car is #005, a 2007. It has red panels on the dashboard. The other car has black panels on the dashboard. You can argue that #005 was updated with the new side scoops, but who in their right mind would take apart an interior, just to change the color of two dash panels? Also note that there differences in the locations of the rear "SSC Ultimate Aero" badging between the two cars. Finally, (here's where you need your hi-res zoom) note that the locations of the VIN plate on the dashboard of these two cars are different. On #005, it is down in the corner; on the other white car, it is more parallel to the longitudinal line.

There is no doubt in my mind that these are two different cars. I have been trying in vain to find a picture of the other white car that shows the chassis plate, to no avail. There are also no pictures of #005 with a legible VIN, but based on my research and the format of SSC VINs, my guess is that it is 1S9SA28447W944005.

For the record, as far as I can determine there are at least three 2004/2005 "SC8/T" (or simply Aero) cars (with supercharged engine), built before the Ultimate Aero production began for 2007 with the blue/black car, #001.

I'm not convinced there are two white black cars its seems highly likely that such a small company would just update their most recent built car. Look at Vector with its W2 and M12 repaints in the 80s and early 90s. done to give the impression they had allot of cars out there, when they just repainted the same car. You may well be right but id like someone in the know to tell us for sure.
How do you figure on three Sc/8t i know the original burnt orange copper car and the silver, which is the third??

Yes, I thought about the Vector thing too. But if you were going to try to give the impression there were more cars than there were, you wouldn't make the car look nearly identical. I've been racking my brain on this one for a while; at this time my thoughts are that there are two white cars. It just wouldn't make sense to change only those small details. As you said, hopefully the truth surfaces. Do we have any spotters in Dubai?...

The third "SC8/T" is the gold car. It says "Aero" on the back, and has the Ultimate Aero style rear hatch. However, it is a supercharged car, and has been pictured with the other two. It is chassis #05-004, which makes it a 2005. My guess is that its VIN is 1S9SA28445W944004. The other two are currently registered in Florida. What happened to #05-004, I have not been able to determine.

The gold car was the ultimate Aero prototype, so i dont really consider it to be an sc/8t. Though i think your right about it not having the current ultimate aero engine set up. Plus there are other small differences between it and later ultimate Aeros, such as one large window in the engine cover, later cars having a narrower window with side vents.

Hey i think we are the only two Aero enthusiats / geeks on the site!!

Ah, yes. Well done!

For my own purposes I call these three cars prototypes, #P1, #P2 and #P4, since much development work went into these three, and they are numbered in their own series. I consider all three to be Aeros, although I suppose the first two should properly be called Aero SC8/T's, since they both carried that badging at one time. You are right that #P4 is a transitional model, it also has the center exhaust of the Ultimate Aeros. It should be noted that #P2 has been upgraded to the center exhaust as well (see photos). For the record, I think it is possible that #P1 and #P2 are owned by the same person, as the same Floirda license plate "DOES 200" has appeared on both!

I have a bit of wild speculation that #P3 was the certification car, but that is not based on anything other than a nicely fit guess! Another thing you might find interesting is this picture I found somewhere of an SSC under construction featuring a tail design that is not seen on any completed car. #P3 perhaps?

Good to be among fellow geeks!
