Post Report: Dutch driver gets Bugatti Veyron confiscated for doing 50 mph over. He's 20!

A 20-year old Dutchman got an expensive fine monday evening, for a speed violation of 80 km per hour. He had to surrender his car, a Bugatti Veyron, and his license, according to the Dutch police. He rode 160 kilometers per hour over the Doenkade in Rotterdam, where the speed limit was 80. The boy had borrowed the car from his parents.

The seized Bugatti is worth 1.8 million euros. The Bugatti website still refers to the Veyron as the fastest production vehicle of all time. The car’s everyday top speed is listed at 350 km/h.

The top speed of the Bugatti Veyron, verified by James May on Top Gear, again at Volkswagen Group’s private Ehra-Lessien test track, where the final-production car hit 407.9 km/h, which equated to almost one-third of the speed of sound at sea level.
The Dutch police also caught a speed demon Saturday evening. Then fined a 22-year-old motorcyclist from Middelharnis, who rode almost 120 km too fast. He drove 197 km per hour over the Plaatweg Stellendam in South Holland, where the speed limit is also 80 km. This man lost his license.

What part of "WFO and run" do people not understand. Stupid speed limits. 200km east he'd be in Germany and could be doing twice the speed legally ... suddenly it's safe?

Granted a Veyron is somewhat conspicuous.

I wonder if his parents even knew he "borrowed" the car. And why didn't he just tell the police that his gas pedal got stuck? Seems to be a good excuse for other cars...

Why would you lend a kid a Veyron...even if the kid is responsible its just too much HP for someone so young. That being said he proboly thought he was doing 60 the car being so stable and composed...LOL if that was me at that age I'd prolly try to hit 250Km/h.

whats new here? I used to take my dads biggest bike out for a spin and try and top it out. I hit 250km/h very quickly after hitting the highway.
