Liverpool supposedly close to signing Fabio Borini, and they want to tie up a deal for Dempsey before going on their American pre season tour.

Well, Rogers said in his press conference yesterday that he's trying confident that one signing will be completed before they leave for the tour and that they've only made 3 or 4 enquiries for any players as of yet.

I'd hope he signs Dempsey first, then he can go on the Tour too, think that would be pretty good motivation for him to put pen to paper a.s.a.p!

Yeah, I saw some of that press conference last night. I like Rogers, I think he'll do well with Liverpool.

Congratulations to Mancini, nice to see reward for success.

Don't know much about this guy Borini, anyone shed any light?

Borini joined Chelsea in the summer of 2007 from Bologna. During the 2008–09 season, Borini was made first choice striker for reserves. He was the top scorer for the reserves with 10 goals from 11 appearances.[3] Borini scored against Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup.[3] On 1 September 2009, he was added to Carlo Ancelotti's Champions League squad and he made the bench against Porto. He made the substitutes bench again a few days later on 20 September, replacing Nicolas Anelka as a substitute in the 89th minute to make his first team debut for Chelsea against Tottenham Hotspur.[2] His full debut came against Queens Park Rangers in the League Cup third round.[4] He scored twice in a reserve game for Chelsea against West Ham United. He made his second appearance against Wolverhampton Wanderers, coming on as substitute for Salomon Kalou on the 77th minute.[5] On 8 December 2009, Borini made his Champions League debut in the 2–2 draw against APOEL. He played his first FA Cup game against Cardiff City in the fifth round, coming on in the 88th minute as the Blues won 4–1. Borini underwent a hernia operation which put him out of action for quite some time.[6]

Captain Borini scored five times to bring Chelsea Reserves back from 3–0, against West Bromwich Albion Reserves on 20 October 2010. Chelsea Reserves won the match 5–4.[7]

Swansea City loanOn 17 March 2011, Borini joined Championship side Swansea City on loan until the end of the 2010–11 season.[8] He linked up with his former Chelsea youth team boss Brendan Rodgers. Borini began his loan spell with the Swans by scoring a brace against Nottingham Forest. On 9 April 2011, he opened the scoring against Norwich City, with a free kick in a match which the Swans went on to win 3–0. He scored again during the Swans 2–1 loss to Burnley at Turf Moor and bagged another brace during the 4–1 defeat of Ipswich Town at the Liberty Stadium.

On 18 May 2011, Borini confirmed that he would not be coming back to Chelsea at the end of his loan spell with Swansea.[9] He insisted he would not make a decision on his future until after the Championship play-off final.[10] In the Championship play-off final Borini won the penalty which secured a 4–2 lead and a return to English football's top flight for the Swans.

ParmaIt emerged in the days following the play-off final that Borini had signed a pre-contract agreement with Italian Serie A team Parma, in his home region of Emilia-Romagna before he had even joined Swansea on loan. According to his agent, Marco De Marchi, Borini has secured a five year contract with the club.[11] Parma confirmed the deal on 2 July 2011.[12] Parma also paid Chelsea a training compensation of €360,000 equivalent to €90,000 a year.[13]

RomaOn 31 August 2011, Borini signed for Italian club Roma on loan for €1.25m, with an option to buy for €7m.[14][15] Borini signed a 1+4 year contract, which he would earn just €1M in gross in first season but increased to €2.3M in 2012–13 and ultimately €3.4M in 2015–16. He made his first official appearance for Roma in the 2–1 loss at home to Cagliari, replacing Pablo Osvaldo in the 80th minute. The following week, he made his first start against Inter in the 0–0 draw at the San Siro. He scored his first goal with his new team in the 2–1 away loss against Genoa. He then scored his first goal in the Coppa Italia against Fiorentina in Roma's 3–0 victory. Borini scored his second goal as a Roma player against Cesena in Roma's 5–1 victory. Borini was bought from Parma on a co-ownership deal for €2.3 million[16] on 23 January 2012. Moreover, Roma also paid agent Andrea Rosso €150,000 who broke the deal, as well as sent Stefano Okaka to Parma in temporary deal with option to sign half of the "card" for €300,000. On 5 February, he scored two goals against Inter, Roma won 4–0. He scored equaliser in a derby against Lazio, and he scored a winner against Palermo on 12 March. On 23 June 2012, Roma paid Parma €5.3m on blind auction, and signed the other 50% of Borini's rights. Before joining Roma, Daily Mail reports that English side Liverpool want to sign him under former manager of Swansea Brendan Rodgers as the pair also worked together in the youth system at Chelsea and Swansea.[17] After the move, Borini says he never thought of joining Liverpool and insists he is a Roma player.[18]

On 9 July 2012, BBC Sport announced that Borini would become Brendan Rodgers first signing as Liverpool manager, with the player expected to join before a United States pre-season tour.[19]

Fabio Borini in Italy U-19.International careerOn 13 November 2009, he made his debut with the Italy U-21 squad in a 2–0 loss[20] against Hungary. Borini was named captain of the Italian team for the 2010 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship, although they exited the tournament in the group stage without scoring a single goal. [21] On 29 March 2011 he scored his first goal for the U21 team in a friendly game against Germany.

On 26 February 2012, Borini was called up to the senior national team by head coach Cesare Prandelli.[22] He made his debut on 29 February 2012, in the friendly match lost 1–0 against the United States. He has been included in the Italian team for the UEFA Euro 2012, but did not leave the bench.

^ Thank you.

Rogers obviously likes and knows him well, so on that basis I will back his judgement and hope for the best.

Rep when I can.

Chelsea are set to launch a fresh bid to sign German forward André Schürrle which may spell the end of Daniel Strurridge’s career at Stamford Bridge, according to The Telegraph.

The report claims that Chelsea had a £17m offer for Schürrle rejected by Bayer Leverkusen earlier this week with the Germans publicly insisting the 21-year-old with stay at the club.

However, it’s understood that further talks between the two clubs were due to take place on Tuesday night and Chelsea were ready to return with an improved £20m bid.

The European champions initial interest in Schürrle came under former boss Andre Villas-Boas, with the Portuguese boss seeing the player as a future signing. But despite the exit of AVB from the Bridge, the club are still keen to press ahead and try and lure the German star to London this summer.

Schürrle is comfortable playing in a central striking role or as a winger on either side, so would provide Roberto Di Matteo with plenty of options in the final third next season. The Telegraph also claim the Blues have agreed a £22m deal to sign Brazilian Oscar, with the transfer expected to be announced soon.

Should Schürrle also move to West London, he would join Marko Marin, Eden Hazard and Oscar as the new recruits this summer in what could pose to be a devastating attack next campaign as owner Roman Abramovich plans an assault on the Premier League title as well as trying to retain the Champions League trophy.
I cant wait for next season, I'm already excited about this new look Chelsea team.

So far Leverkusen has looked very determined to keep Schürrle but for £20m I honestly think they should sell him. He's good but not as good as Reus who cost Dortmund only €17m.
