mayoof, not at all i kind of agree
torres needs to be fed with a playmaker. someone like joe cole in the past, or hopefully like modric if he comes
is he a waste of money?
not at all, i do not think so. is he worth the price tag?
this season will prove an answer

ashley young was excellent today for utd

If you actually watched the game today you'd see Torres played great..back to the old Nando but chelsea has one of the worst midfielder in my opinion, lampard is garbage mikel is good and ramires just works hard like a kuyt but no passing skills. Chelsea need a good winger that'd a true winger not striker and a creative midfielder like modric even though I'd prefer sneijder. Hate man u but ashley young got me some good fantasy points

lampard is garbage

I'm not sure that statement is based in much fact:

Frank James Lampard (born 20 June 1978) is an English professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Chelsea and the England national team. He also holds the position of vice-captain for his club side.[4] He is considered to be one of the best English footballers of all time, and is widely regarded to be one of the best midfield players of his generation.[5][6][7][8][9]

Lampard began his career at West Ham United, his father Frank Lampard, Sr.'s former club. He had secured a place in the first team by the 1997–98 season, and the following year helped the team finish 5th in the Premier League, their highest-ever Premier League placing. In 2001, he moved to rival London club Chelsea for £11 million.

From his debut onwards he was ever-present in the Chelsea first team, setting a record 164 consecutive Premier League appearances. He established himself as a prolific scorer at the West London club and was a key part of the sides which won back-to-back Premier League titles in 2004–05 and 2005–06 and a domestic cup double in 2007. He signed a new contract in 2008, becoming the highest paid Premier League footballer at that time,[10] and scored in his first Champions League Final that same year. He won the FA Cup for the second time in 2009, scoring the winning goal in the final. On 23 December 2009, he was named the Premier League's Player of the decade by official statistics.[11] In the 2009–10 season, Lampard won the Premier League title and FA Cup (domestic cup double) and also had his most prolific season with Chelsea, scoring 22 league goals and 17 league assists.[12]

A three-time Chelsea Player of the Year,[13] he is the club's third all-time goalscorer with 170 goals in all competitions, including over 100 league goals – the most in the club's history for a midfielder. Lampard is also the highest goalscoring midfielder in Premier League history (139 league goals)[14] and second in the Premier League's all-time assists table with 85 assists.[15] He has had over 1400 successful passes and 10 or more assists every season.[16] In 2005, Lampard was voted second place in both the 2005 FIFA World Player of the Year and the 2005 Ballon d'Or.

Internationally, Lampard has been capped 86 times by England since making his debut in October 1999, and has scored 22 goals. He was voted England Player of the Year for two consecutive years in 2004 and 2005. He played in Euro 2004, where he was named in the team of the tournament after scoring three goals in four games. He was top scorer for England in their successful 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign with five goals, and played in the 2006 World Cup. He is England's most prolific penalty taker ever with 7 goals, surpassing the previous record holders, Ron Flowers and Alan Shearer.

I know what Lampard HAS done but that was the past. He isn't creative and just looks old out there. I love lamps he was quality but he is not anymore. I would start josh over lampard, he's young has pace he's creative and its time for chelsea to move on from though mourinho teams that were brilliant.

I'd still rate Lamps highly. People wrote off Beckham too early and he was off to LA before Real Madrid figured it out...

I agree Chris, Lamps may not be the player he was, but to say he's garbage is a little much. Mceachran has a great future, but he isn't ready to fill Lamps' shoes yet

Lampard is a great player and like you said - calling him garbage is "a bit" out there. He is (with Terry) the heart of Chelsea. The question is (as always) when do you renew your team? When it is time for the "old" to leave room for the new and young?

When it comes to Lampard, it is not time for him to move over just yet. He's still got a couple of great seasons in him IMO.

This.

And Lampard is still a quality player, no doubt about it. But I'd rather have Gerrard in my team.

Anyway, ManU won in a game full of bad goalkeeping. Lets give De Gea some time to adapt, he's a good goalkeeper and needs some time to become as good as Van der Sar.

Oh and some other news: Fabregas -> Barça. So I guess that Arsenal isn't going for any price this season.

mikel has matured in his game, and even if his build gives you the security when he's holding, he is not any makalele imo for going forward.
ramires i think has proven to adapt very well and quickly for the PL, his brazilian-dribbling gives chelsea something they rarely come across. i agree though that his work rate is greater than his clinical side as of yet.

now, lamps is the best footballer i've personally seen at arriving late in the box and scoring.
it is unfair to judge him on last season's perf because he was in/out of injury AND he missed essien as well + ballack from previous seasons. i did not approve of ballack 80% of the time, but he DID have presence in MF defense AND he could transition play right/left or fwd with those long passes.

AVB needs to position and use lampard for what he can do NOW, i agree with you on that, and with someone like Modric roaming in front of lamps, with the possibility of benayoun and malouda on either side, torres/kalou + drogba/anelka will be fed until they drop

but hey, this is chelsea we're talking about
so it will never happen and even if it does (if modric comes), this MF will not be available due to injury

last season, he only made 24 appearances in the league, and STILL scored 10 goals, making 4 assists.

that said, all the west ham boys are friggin' great at what they do in the league!!

josh was excellent vs newcastle (i think it was in the carling cup) last season, but i don't think he's played more than 10 games in the league.
his build will need work in the gym/kitchen, and his pace will be put to the test when he has challenges/tackles flying all around him.

i have NO DOUBT that he will be the presence in chelsea's MF as will sturridge be up front. but not this season please he needs to be eased in, and to put him in the same sentence as lampard is soooo unfair imo

when you give a call to SAF and ask him for advice
