agree that crazier things have happened - but Otis Smith is very hard-headed and this won't happen unless half of the Lakers team, including Kobe, came to the Magic. there is no reason to trade DH this summer - none at all.

and agree about the bitching - which i believe the owners will fix w/ the CBA (as they should - it's pretty ridiculous what players get away with right now. it's ruining the game imo.)

all that said, i think Otis Smith is gone if they don't make it to the conference finals, possibly SVG too, and with the CBA, everything gets re-set in Orlando. the VC trade was good; the Arenas trade un-necessary & egotistical.

IMO the C's are setting themselves up for the next trade after Shaq retires. Smart move if you are wanting a huge power player to keep the franchise on top for the next 3-7 years.

Perkins trade is justified for the following reasons:

--Perk already rejected a contract offer for the max amount they could possibly give him, thus he was not coming back after this year.
--It takes 12+ months for someone to heal from an injury like Perk suffered. He was not going to be 100% until finals time provided everything went perfectly to schedule. They would still be vulnerable to the magic and heat in the meantime anyways.
--The O'Neals provide some depth at front if healthy. If they are not by playoff time ten this blows up in Ainge's face.

--Nate wasn't living up to expectations anyways so good riddance to him.

--They needed a swingman as Marquis may be out for the season.

I hate that Perk is gone but when you look at it objectively it makes sense. Ballsy move though.

Definitely a Ballsy move... especially the way Chicago is playing these days. I would think you try to keep your core in tact for this run to the Finals.

Watching the playoffs in the East unfold is going to be damn fun. The West... not so much.

was thinking it over and it seems this move makes the most sense - if you expect to face Miami in the ECFs. you don't need the big men - you need defense & a little more scoring.

but if they face Chicago or the Magic in the 2nd round, both teams, in theory, match up exceedingly well against the new-look C's.

The Clippers traded Baron Davis and a first-round pick to Cleveland for Mo Williams and Jamario Moon. Crappy and fantastic all at once.

Boston Is confident they can come out of the east if they stay healthy, they also know they can not and will not beat the lakers! so what do you do? fill the one void of the team standing in DA ChAMPs way! OKC is going to be tough! No one from Texas is winning squat this year...

Chicago
lakers
celtics

those 3 have what it takes!

Dwight Howard is not happy with Orlando's performance - Ball Don't Lie - NBA - Yahoo! Sports

Another article about Dwight and his disappointment with his current squad.

Come to L.A. Dwight you'll go down as a Laker legend and one of the best centers to every play the game.
