'Muricans can't produce that Q/Gh sound from the depths of their throats. Cut 'em some slack.

Whats Qatar stance on all the things that the football world cup brings?

Alcohol, scantily clad woman etc etc?

Are you going to be able to get shit faced in public and wander the streets?

It's seriously embarrassing. The guy who announced it in Zurich said it the correct way, the american soccer federation guy said it right after the announcement and somehow all of these idiots missed that.

Ahh! Ignorance

Congrats to Qatar!

but are the go-ers gonna to be able to have fun? Drinking included.
Or they're just gonna be restricted to their hotels/resorts? That's whats important...

Hi,

The 'First Five Stadiums' video is absolutely insanity. So very cool. I don't like soccer at all, but my word that looks very cool.

Is it true that some of the stadiums are being built in blocks so they can be disassembled and donated to less fortunate countries around the way?

Also, for us uncultured down under, what is the pronunciation key for Qatar?

Cheers,
Nik

The good news gets better!!!!
Political Alliances:

On February 24, 2010, Qatar and Iran signed a defense co-operation agreement in which the two countries stressed the need to expand their defense cooperation.
Iran and Qatar will

1. Exchange specialized and technical committees
2. Expand cooperation in training
3. Conduct joint campaigns against terrorism and insecurity in the region

March 10, 2010. Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani has given his support to Iran’s right to nuclear technology, and considers Iran’s nuclear project to be for peaceful nuclear energy purposes.

Environmental issues:

Qatar has the highest per-capita carbon dioxide emissions, at 55.5 metric tons per person in 2005. This is almost double the next highest per-capita emitting country, which is Kuwait at 30.7 metric tons (2005) and they are three times those of the United States. Qatar had the highest per-capita carbon dioxide emissions for the past 18 years. These emissions are largely due to high rates of energy use in Qatar. Major uses of energy in Qatar include air conditioning, natural gas processing, water desalination and electricity production. Between 1995 and 2011 the electricity generating capacity of Qatar will have increased to six times the previous level. The fact that Qataris do not have to pay for either their water or electricity supplies is thought to contribute to their high rate of energy use. Despite being a desert state they are also one of the highest consumers of water per capita per day, using around 400 litres.

What a joke. The FIFA is totally corrupt and has no creditability based on this incredible poor decision. What a travesty FIFA. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I would like to congratulate the Al-Thani family !

Your project is just amazing. I like every bit of it.

See you in Cannes next summer....
