I'm not sure he was the worst or if he just went to the worst team. You can't expect a college player to come right into an NFL offense with the worst line in football and do well. On rare occasions do they even do well with good offensive lines. Matt Ryan and now this guy Sanchez are the only ones. He could have been good potentially but like said before 40 mil guaranteed shows how numb Al Davis is and how smart Russell's agent is...

Showing up to camp unprepared and out of shape + coaching carousel + Al Davis = disaster. Were likely to never know if JRuss really could have become a great NFL QB. I am a Raider fan and I hate to say it, but the Raiders are currently the worst run organization in football.....it all starts with ownership. Al Davis has lost it. Al Davis lost it years ago. It was not that long ago that the Raiders were the best team in the AFC. Ever since the Super Bowl loss to the Bucs and John Gruden, the organization has been an absolute disaster.

Alex Smith (49ers) isn't even playing and he got $25M guarenteed. What a waste. We here in the Bay Area are paying a lot of people to not perform. This Crabtree guy for all his BS better produce when he comes on line.

I also am a raiders fan, and I'm also currently waiting for Al Davis to die.

As for being a good businessman, his agent and his perceived value got him a lot of money. But money isn't everything. No athlete wants to lose and suck no matter how much they're getting paid.

Development is one thing, but he's locked into receivers and can't even see/sense a blitz coming. That doesn't bode well, and even worse considering how bad the line is.
