Champions League Preview: Chelsea - Barcelona
#53
I hear you on that instance I actually forgot that happened, sorry man didn't mean to question you...
Barca have managed to scrape thier way through to a champions league final not by being a better team but with the pure fact that euefa didn't want another all england final. I am by no means a chelsea fan but am dissapointed to see barca in the fianal because of sheer incompetance by the ref including the sending off. If barca had shown the magic they are supposed to have then fair enough but they didn't.
Well said, I wouldnt be surprised if EUFA had this one rigged...ref in the back pocket if you know what I mean.

DITTO. What a terrible Ref. Great game nonetheless, Chelsea outplayed Barca though. MAN v. BAR should be an awesome game to watch.

You know... seeing as Chelsea controlled the game and really wasn't in attack mode, I don't understand how you can throw any blame on Barca. Chelsea plays in a way where the comes down to close plays... and thats always dangerous.
They should not have rested, and kept on trying to put pressure on the Barcelona defense. Neither team had many chances, and that's how Chelsea was going to play it. Yes, the ref missed the call on Pique... but it shouldn't have come to that anyways. And there was tons of time after he missed that call.
Chelsea knew that if they started opening the game up more, and playing freely... Barcelona would get more chances, and it would result in more goals. It's a sound plan, and almost worked, except Barca put one goal in.
Personally, I would have enjoyed playing the overtime period in order to decide the real outcome.
