Phillies Announcer and Voice of NFL Films - Harry Kalas - Passes Away

The voice of the Philadelphia Phillies and NFL Films passed away today in the broadcast booth proir to the Phillies game.

Kalas has one of the most recognizable voices in sports history. Even if you don't know the name, you likely know the voice.

He will be missed.

He will definitely be missed. To me, his voice defined NFL highlight films, much like Mel Allen when he did "This week in baseball" Yankee fans were extremely fortunate to hear his voice every game, just as Philly fans were lucky to hear Harry Kalas' voice every game.

I remember the day when Chick Hearn passed like it was yesterday. The day when Vin Scully leaves us will be a sad day indeed. There is something about a really good play by play announcer that creates a real connection with the listener. Especially when you have heard that person call hundreds of games. Sorry for the ramble

My Harry Kalas rest in peace.
