NBA Greatest Point Guard

Trust me, I think Stockton is in the top 3 for sure. It's just that the Magic Man is #1.

I like Magic. That shot against the Celtics in the Finals was a beautiful thing!
And Magic does have the 5 rings....

It's all good - I had to root for Stockton - it's tough for us white guys with no hops...

Interesting comments. I don't lump Oscar Robertson into the point guard category. I am a fan of Stockton but with all due respect stats are only part of the story.
Best example of Magic's value- 1977 Michgan H.S. team wins state; 1979 Mich. State defeats Indiana State (with a guy named Bird) to win the NCAA. 1980, Lakers defeat a much more talented 76ers team to win the NBA Championship (Kareem did not play due to a migrane and the game was broadcast tape-delayed!).
Four years, three championships at three different levels. His NCAA team and NBA team were not the most talented (Mich. St. had more talent than Indiana St. but several teams were better than both and didn't advance to the finals). Worthy came later and four more rings followed (Lakers passed on Dominique and Terry Cummings to select Worthy; Nique would have been a lock for "top 50" if the Lakers had selected him).
And don't forget, he was a legit 6'8", the second tallest player on the team. Everyone tried to find the next point guard at Magic's size and no one has gotten close to his skills as a point guard at his size.
Final statement- a point guard leads, gets his teamates invovled and controls the flow of the game. No one could execute those facets better than Magic.

Just got home....NBA is one of my favorite subjects to debate.
Magic is not only the greatest point guard in NBA history, he is in my opinion the greatest team player in NBA history. No other player truly made his team mates better like Magic. No one had a greater impact on their team than Magic. Its not just about assists or passes. it is about inspiring and demanding that the other players on the team to be their absolute best every minute of every practice, every game and every other minute of every season. Magic's teams accepted coaching, they were all business during the season, they practiced harder than any other team, they played harder than any other team.
I could go on and on. Plain and simple, Magic was...is...and always will be the best....
