Fantasy Football Rundown Week 15 - Lots Of Important News

Brandon Jacobs - RB - New York Giants - Dec 11 2008 6:16PM est
News: NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that that Giants are considering "resting" Brandon Jacobs (knee) is Week 15 against Dallas.
Impact: As much as Jacobs would love to play, it's the smartest move for both sides. Expect Derrick Ward to start and be a worthwhile flex/RB2 in the matchup.

Steve Breaston - WR - Arizona Cardinals - Dec 11 2008 5:55PM est
News: Steve Breaston (ribs) was limited again in Thursday's practice.
Impact: The Cardinals' explosive third receiver's status is not certain for Week 15 against Minnesota, but Breaston is tentatively expected to play. Jerheme Urban is next up on the depth chart. Check on Breaston's Friday status.

Aaron Schobel - DL - Buffalo Bills - Dec 11 2008 5:46PM est
News: Bills placed DE Aaron Schobel on injured reserve with a Lisfranc foot sprain, ending his season.
Impact: Buffalo isn't losing much because Schobel was out since Week 5, but their drop-off in defensive play since he got hurt has been major. The Bills' top edge rusher by far, Schobel finishes his injury-ruined season with just one sack. He may need offseason surgery, but should return to top form in 2009. Going into the season, the 31-year-old had 52 sacks in his last five seasons.

Kevin Williams - DL - Minnesota Vikings - Dec 11 2008 5:27PM est
News: A federal judge has ruled in favor of the Saints and Vikings' players in regard to their temporary restraining order against the NFL, pending a full hearing.
Impact: The Williams Wall, Will Smith, and Deuce McAllister will be available for the rest of the regular season. The judge won't hold a "full hearing" until Dec. 22, or possibly later. If not, the four-game suspensions could still kick in next year, but that now seems less likely. The players appear to have federal jurisdiction on their side in their argument against the NFL.

Frank Gore - RB - San Francisco 49ers - Dec 11 2008 8:49PM est
News: The San Francisco Chronicle agrees with beat writer Matt Maiocco that Frank Gore (ankle) is unlikely to play Sunday.
Impact: He's still officially a game-time decision, but the Niners are preparing DeShaun Foster for a larger role as the primary ball carrier. Against Miami's stout defense, Gore owners should pursue other options if available.

Tony Romo - QB - Dallas Cowboys - Dec 11 2008 10:00PM est
News: Updating a previous item, the top three Cowboys wideouts reportedly held a meeting with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett regarding their role vs. Jason Witten's role in the offense.
Impact: We guess that's not T.O's quarterback anymore. The wide receivers honestly believe Romo favors Jason Witten because they are buddies. NFL Network's Deion Sanders, a confidant of T.O., suggested the complaints were coming from Crayton and Williams. Maybe Owens is rubbing off. Wade Phillips is attempting to downplay the conflict, but this is a childish distraction the Cowboys don't need in a crucial week.

This helps me! I had Thomas at my Flex position this week! Off to a good start!!

Pierre Thomas - RB - New Orleans Saints - Dec 11 2008 11:51PM est
News: Pierre Thomas rushed 22 times for 87 yards and a touchdown and added seven receptions for 59 yards and another touchdown against the Bears in Week 15.
Impact: The difference between Thomas' hard-charging style and Reggie Bush's dancing was palpable. Thomas was extremely active in the passing game and capped his huge night with a career-long 43-yard touchdown scamper. As one of the most productive backs in the NFL over the past five weeks, he's solidified his role as the Saints feature back. He has a chance to take fantasy playoff MVP honors with the cupcake Lions on the schedule in Week 16.

I have both Thomas & Reggie Bush, and went with Thomas based on his recent play as well as the fact he'd gone off on the Bears last season in Chicago. Dominic Rhodes is penciled in as my 2nd RB right now, though that could change based on Addai's status and whether I feel Tashard Choice might be the better play (Marion Barber's status pending as well).

Jeff Garcia - QB - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Dec 12 2008 1:10PM est
News: Updating a previous item, Bucs coach Jon Gruden said after Friday's practice that he expects Jeff Garcia (calf) to start in Week 15.
Impact: Garcia was limited in practice all week, but Gruden says that "after talking to the trainers and talking to Jeff we think he's got a chance to play." The Tampa Tribune now believes that Garcia will face the Falcons. We'll know Garcia's status early Sunday, so make sure to check the morning inactives.

Dominic Rhodes - RB - Indianapolis Colts - Dec 12 2008 1:05PM est
News: The Indianapolis Star expects Dominic Rhodes to be the Colts' starting tailback in Week 15 against Detroit.
Impact: The Star anticipates Chad Simpson (ankle) and Joseph Addai (shoulder, knee) sitting out and Lance Ball coming up from the practice squad. Detroit's run defense has lost top DT Cory Redding for the year and surrenders 5.0 yards per carry. It also has served up 23 rushing touchdowns this season, the most in the league. We're guessing that Addai's injury is only a one-week deal.

Cory Redding - DL - Detroit Lions - Dec 12 2008 12:49PM est
News: Lions placed DT Cory Redding (knee, groin) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Impact: Redding finishes with 38 tackles and three sacks in 13 games. After Detroit made him its franchise player in 2007 and signed him to a $49 million deal, Redding has essentially gone in the tank. He'll be back next year, but his eight-sack season in 2006 now appears very fluky. Langston Moore takes his place on the roster. This improves Dominic Rhodes' matchup for Week 15.

Brandon Jacobs - RB - New York Giants - Dec 12 2008 12:32PM est
News: Brandon Jacobs (knee) was on a stationary bike for practice Friday.
Impact: He's almost certainly not going to play against the Cowboys. It's a Sunday night game, but Derrick Ward can be penciled into fantasy lineups now.
