I mentioned this idea on the recent get-together thread, and many were open to it.

So who's in for meeting up Thursday evening for a few drinks/food and then viewing the show?

Preview night is a great way to see the show as tickets are limited so its not crowded. There is rarely more than 5 or 6 people looking at a car at a time.

If you go during the public days, there is always 8 rows of people crowding around each car, kids jumping up and down in the back seats, people crashing into you with strollers and other people yelling at you because you are ruining their video camera shot for their blog...

A possible meeting spot mentioned was The Yardhouse across the street from the convention center.

I think we need some sort of press credentials and pre-registration...If someone can facilitate this for the group, I'd be down to go depending on the cost.

 

No, its open to anyone who buys a ticket. It's a charity benefit.

Just got back from the auto show...

It was better than I thought it would be.

Highlights for me were the:

Fisker Karma (much larger car than I was expecting)
5 new Lotus debuts were very impressive... I liked the yellow one especially (can't remember the name)
Porsche Carrera GTS
Cayman R was nothing special.
Audi R8 spyder and R8 GT in matte white paint with carbon fiber everywhere.
