Need Some Advice - Hosting a Car Show? (Charitable Event)
I need some advice with a project that carb0n fiber and I are thinking about doing. Both of us are juniors in high school, and are a part of our schools DECA club. DECA is a club for students interested in business, and is great for teaching business skills. Each year, they host competitions where you can compete at state and national level. To make a long story short, we want to do the "learn and earn" project for our school, which is where you organize something using business skills and make money from it. Most kids just do something like a candy sale and then donate the money to their schools chapter... however, we want to take it further by possibly running a car show, and donating all the money to a charity, such as the muscular dystrophy association. We would earn money by charging a small entrance fee, getting sponsors, and possibly setting up some kind of deal with a vendor or restaurant (for instance, if we host the show in a shopping plaza we could refer people to go to a restaurant in that plaza, and they could compensate us in some way.)
The problem is I have no idea how to go about organizing an event like this... how do I go about finding a location, do I need insurance? Any thoughts, pointers, and input would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm hoping this will work as it would be fun, look great for college, and best of all will be helping out a charity.
