I first tried a Drew Estate cigar nearly 10 years ago, I believe it was a Kuba Kuba. My friend and I were rolling through downtown Denver breaking in his new Lexus and I have been hooked on nearly everything Drew Estate produces ever since. Before my first Drew Estate I had already sampled a large variety of premium cigars. I was mainly a Cohiba smoker back then.

I am still trying to understand what cigar enthusiasts seem to have against Drew Estate cigars. I often hear them referred to as "hippie" and "weird" often also hoping that they will soon go out of business. Why so much hate for something that is so enjoyable?

A kuba kuba is my favorite cigar hands down. I like most all drew estates cigars. They get alot of hate from the purists. I also don't know know, I suppose because its a flavored cigar. But f em. I love how they taste

 

Perhaps the purists should try a Liga Privada No. 9 before they try to condemn an entire producer that has the support of someone like Rocky Patel.

 

There's a couple Drew estates that I enjoy, but not many. I thoroughly enjoy the Javas. Nice and sweet. Though these days if I smoke a sweet cigar its a Tabak Cafe con leche. Most of the drew estate line is junk though. As is Rocky Patel.

 

And I'm more a fan of the T52 than the No 9

 

Why do you qualify them as junk? Just curious. I've never had an issue with them. Easy and even smoke. And I personally love the taste. What am I missing

QuickZohsix, sub par tobacco and poor construction namely. Some of them burn fine and some of them burn like shit. Even their more expensive lines like the ligas, are very hit or miss.

For some reason, the Javas are perfect. I've never had one canoe or the wrapper come loose. Might be because of the box press?

Alec Bradley has the same issue. They have fantastic tasting cigars shut the construction is inconsistent. I've smoked multiple cigars from the same box and had a different experience with each one.

Beyond the tobacco, The construction makes or breaks a cigar. Padrons, olivas, Tabaks, etc will all burn exactly the same every single time.

 

Well, the Java is one of the DE cigars I have never personally cared very much for. To each their own. It seems we are just splitting hairs when it comes to this level of near perfection.

 

I rip on Alec Bradleys too but I'm smoking a black market in the lounge at Harrahs in NOLA right now and its fantastic.
