There's no chocolate flavor in the cigar like an Acid cigar. But there are several flavors that one can discern from a Cuban cigar depending on the blend and the quality of the tobacco. Generally, these are:

chocolate
coffee
cream
wood
floral
grass
spice
pepper
rich tobacco
leather

Some people take it to another level beyond that. Either my pallet is not that sophisticated or they are just BSers. For example, a friend once said to me that he thought a certain cigar tasted like graham crackers. I couldn't see it, but it was a good cigar.

Different cigars are known for their flavor profiles. For example, most people say that Cohibas taste grassy while Vegas Robaina cigars have a cocoa/coffee profile.

Vegas Robaina Famosos or Unicos would be a great place to start.

Just like wine, scotch and any other connoisseur-oriented product - IMO, the 'experts' are full of it in terms of the descriptions. The level UBC laid out is the most one can reasonably expect to understand and pick out.

The "experts" have a knack for taking product description too far! I still have not tasted "barnyard" in a cigar, but I've heard that term used plenty of times.

^ Ahhhh. "Barnyard" is not a taste in a cigar. Rather, it's intended to denote the smell of a cigar or collection of cigars. For example, my NC only humidor smells remarkably like a barn (combination of animals, hay, etc.). On the other hand, my CC humidors all have that sweet citrus Cuban twang smell.
