Porsche to reduce car output, spending in 2013

Reuters is reporting that Volkwagen AG's Porsche unit will reduce investment spending and cut costs next year to offset lower-than-expected car sales and maintain its high profitability in 2013.

"We will possibly delay the one or the other project," Porsche brand chief Matthias Mueller said on the sidelines of the production launch of the new Boxster.

He added that vehicle sales next year could be between 5-10 percent below the company's internal target, but they should still be on par with the number sold in 2012. The company will also moderately reduce production in 2013, he said.

Auto sales in Europe have slowed this year amid the region's ongoing economic slump, and new-vehicle demand is slowing in China, as well.

they make too many cars imo. flooding the dealer lot doesnt do much to help. more people are buying used also since a new 911 is easily over 100k now.

I don't get this - there are zero Cayennes in stock. The 991 has a 4-6 month wait list .. ?? How is this slow?

Porsche slow down

I'm going to go with the theory that there are too many 997's being produced still, not 991's. I bet that will be the "slow down".

997 - except the turbo are not produced anymore. Djantlive is right..

Dont forget that the first wave of 991 sales also included just dealer cars..and I know from 3 Porsche dealers that 991 is not selling at all now - the reasons could be different..but I bet you in 3 months you will see another reduction in production.

A friend of mine ordered a 991 - he will still get it in october..and there was already a serious reduction on the "new price".

I even heard of one source telling me that there huge stocks of 991 floating around - that have left the factory - and thus count as "sold" - but dealers are not willing to throw them on the market not cause any further decline in prices...
