I pulled the awd out of mine in my garage with the car on jack stands. Its a relatively simple job but you do need a bunch 2wd parts cars (shift box & some other gearshift related parts, but it makes for a great time to throw a short shift kit in.)

These cars were not meant to be drag racers and the awd is really only what porsche did as soon as the turbo's got over 400hp to protect people who dont really know how to drive them. The race versions of the cars were always 2wd. The AWD parts weigh about 140lbs, but it makes the steering more nimble without really compromising any traction...

By the way... ridiculous GT2. Great looking car.

Always loved the raw lines of the 993GT2....so what's it like to drive ?
