Porsche 906 for sale

Saw this in my day dreaming of owning a classic one day. Oh to have 3/4 of a million Euro to spare.

The German says that it has been restored, and the chassis number is 906116. Be interesting to know what the history of the car is (no clue how to run chassis number searches. Google?) Anyway, here are a few photos:

Wow, opportunities to acquire something like this are rare.

That's the one that Freisinger did the resto on. Damaged at Nurburgring a long time ago and just sat until they did a complete nut and bolt job on it. Pretty nice, but asking price is a little high IMHO. I helped sell two straight cars (older restos with vintage race history) and a 904 to a buyer in Italy about 2 years ago for $1 million USD.

I read the title as "Porsche 996 for sale" and expected to see some '99 C2 Tiptronic with a glued on aerokit, but wowies!! I would look so awesome in that. Would daily drive it and everything ... buy groceries, pick up chicks, commute... Perfect! I just need Amir to do a tune-up every now and then. (Edit: Haha! I totally didn't see you post before me!)

^The nice thing about these cars is that a good independent Porsche mechanic can service it. As long as nothing breaks, it'll cost about as much as an early 911 to run. The only thing I'd change if I were street-driving this is to de-cam it and rejet the carbs for better mid-range power. 906 cams hit really hard and really late, and the power is awesome. But just firing it up from cold and cruising at anything under 4000rpm, it'll cut and pop a lot. Then there are the fumes. If you don't haul-ass with it, the fuel fumes are unbearable. After an hour you wreak of gas, your eyes are bloodshot and you have a horrible headache. Kinda like driving a Miura

So what are the negative things about it?
