An interesting and rare tidbit for Wednesday, the Porsche Tapiro Concept was designed by Italdesign's Giugiaro. Mounted mid-ship and powering the rear wheels was a 2.4-liter flat-six cylinder engine. The engine was courtesy of the Porsche 914/6, as was the chassis and many of the mechanical components. There were gull-wing doors to both the cockpit and the engine bay.

 

Late 60s, early 70s concepts are so wacky... the whole futuristic theme. Very cool to look back and see!

That's the least Porsche-looking Porsche I've ever seen.

That being said, it still looks pretty awesome, imo. Kinda reminds me of the DeTomaso Mangusta.

It was an outside designer is why its so different.

I remeber reading about that car when I was a young kid in dad's huge "Excellence was Expected" Porsche book. Probably the best Porsche book ever written. Ever.

 

I like it, I think it's funny how they thought cars would look like that today though.
