Looking at a 964 C2... Help Please?
Howdy,
Right now I'm looking at a 964 on Rennlist (pics + description below) and was looking for some thoughts/guidance. It's a 1990 964 C2, and has 115,000 on it.
Originally I felt rather satisfied with the details listed except for the leaking of "a tiny bit of oil." Is there anything here that should make me run the other way? Thoughts on it?
Also, are there any questions/concerns I should raise with him about it in general?
I appreciate any help
.
Cheers
Tom
P.S. - I plan on seeing if he'd be willing to have it undergo a PPI on my dime.

1990 Grand Prix White Porsche Carrera 2. Blue interior. No accidents. Usually garaged. I'm the third owner with probably ~85% of the car's lifetime maintenance records. Most of the factory tool kit. Oil consumption is kept track of and normal. Maintained regularly. Car runs fantastically and sounds awesome. 17" Boxster wheels, Aero Mirrors, H&R Springs, RUF front lip spoiler, RUF primary bypass pipe, two sets of good tires (Dunlop rain and Sumitomo summer), Alpine CD head unit w/ Ipod + XM, and polished steel gauge trim rings.
THINGS I HAVEN'T GOTTEN AROUND TO BUYING YET:
-Windshield. Got cracked by a rock last year, insurance sent a guy who 'filled' it, but you may want to replace it. Doesn't bother me so I didn't do it yet.
-Rear spoiler motor pauses sometimes, but usually works well.
-The brakes are pretty new but they squeal sometimes at low speed. I've gotten over it, but you may not.
-Leaks a tiny bit of oil from a couple valve cover gasket bolts. Nothing major, and definitely not from the crankcase or anything else of extreme seriousness.
-It's about time for an oil change. I already have the filter.
THINGS I BOUGHT, BUT HAVE NOT INSTALLED YET (THEY WILL GO W/ THE CAR):
-All belts. I have the full set, all brand new.
-Another set of plugs, though the ones in there now are only ~10k old.
This car could be considered as a daily driver, but I usually drive my Evo VIII. I would consider myself as one who keeps their car(s) in excellent condition, though not showroom perfect. This car is definitely in very good condition. I honestly hate to let it go, but I really want to pick up another car.
Please don't hesitate to email me for any extra details or pictures, though as you can see I try to be quite thorough the first time. Serious inquiries only, please.

Mileage a bit on the high side? On the other hand, if you take into account the car's age it works out to only ±6k miles/yr.
Are you already extending your stable Thomas or looking for a quick flip?

all i can tell you is once you own a 964 its very hard to appreciate any 911 made after it, or any water cooled 911 i should say. very fun and rewarding cars to drive. take a lookk at mine, the clear lights would look great on the front of a white one. good luck

Oh man... this is ancient
. To answer Gray's question, I ended up passing on it (lack of contact from the seller) and buying an M3 a few weeks ago. Yeah... it's a bit of a different path, but so far, I'm enjoying it rather well.
Still plan on picking a 964 up after college sometime - they're just too enjoyable of a car to pass up and allow to dwindle away.
