Ohhh let's hope not ! Rendered speculation: Porsche hatchback based on VW Golf
Just say no Porsche , Just say no
According to GlobalMotors, there have been lot of speculations about Porsche’s future models. We already have 911, Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne and very soon Panamera. One of the speculations is a sports hatch based on Volkswagen Golf that would rival BMW 1-Series, Audi S3 and future Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA.
It does sound like brand dilution to some Porsche fans, but as we have seen all these new models like Cayman and Cayenne have worked very well for Porsche and they have made more money than anyone expected. Another reason Porsche needs smaller more efficient vehicles is to meet stricter fuel efficiency and emissions rules.
Volkswagen based hatch would be perfect for that as they could use Volkswagen’s already fuel efficient engines and proved platform of the Golf. As Porsche and Volkswagen have worked together in the past and will continue in the future as Porsche pretty much owns the Volkswagen Group, it is very likely that we are going to see more models with Porsche badge that have been worked out with the VW Group.
As we have not seen any real life prototypes or official comments from Porsche it is just a pure speculation. Below you can see how Porsche sports hatch could look if it enters production. In addition to the hatchback there is a very high chance that a modern day 914 will be introduced in the near future that is based on the Volkswagen BlueSport.
