I'm pretty sure at one point the owner told me it was a 964. I wasn't about to question it.

I was kidding of course.While there could have been a possibility that he added the old-school bumpers, the gear lever is an easy tell - it's too tall for a 964.

If he told you it was a 964 then I would love to sell him a bridge in New York.
Do you have pictures of the engine? If I had to guess without seeing more...I would say its either an SC or a 930.
