2012 Formula 1 Official Belgian Spa GP Banter Thread
After a 3 week break, the race for the F1 World Championship resumes in full swing this weekend at Spa.
Expect a boatload of upgrades to the cars. Mclaren is rumored to have developed there own permutation of a DDRS system, following the likes of Mercedes & Lotus. There has also been rumors that Ferrari have also developed their own system for the F2012. On such a high-speed corner circuit like Spa, a DDRS system may well be the ultimate advantage if weather plays nice.
Weather is forecasted to be wet for the entire weekend so that may play into the hands of the likes of Alonso who now leads the World Drivers' Championship by a healthy 40pts over Mark Webber.
I'm personally rooting for Kimi's first win of 2012, and who has also won at Spa 4 times in his F1 career! Just got my official Lotus team Kimi gear in the mail today too after a 3 month search+wait. It's a sign I tell you!
Schedule (PST):
Practice 1 ---Fri 01:00
Practice 2 ---Fri 05:00
Practice 3 ---Sat 02:00
Qualifying ---Sat 05:00
Race ---Sun 05:00

Would love to see Kimi on the top step, but would be even better if Alonso manages to extend his lead in the championship. Ferrari might have some new parts on the car, but their main package is scheduled for Italy.

I got it from a shop in Toronto called Toronto motorsports. Ya, it took me awhile to find the legitimate official one ie actual team gear...there are a bunch of replica ones out there and F1.com carried those.
Happy hunting!

Just looked at the Toronto Motorsports site and they're sold out.
I remember awhile back lotusoriginals.com had it, but they don't seem to have it now either...if the source doesn't have any I wonder how anyone else would get more inventory!

Some photo coverage of Spa upgrades are beginning to trickle onto the net.
Here's McLaren's "vortex vane" running over the sidepods; very similar to what Sauber has used for the past few races. Also note the "vortex wings" on the very left end closest to the cockpit, looks very similar to the Ferrari's.
I've attached a pic of the wings on Massa's car; on Alonso's car since his mirrors don't run tall and close to the driver, the frontmost "vortex wing" is seamlessly integrated to the mirror as one single unit.
