Nine world championships on two wheels, why not prove your worth overall? He placed 8th in his class and 18th overall. Maybe if he had a better co-driver, that number could have been fixed.

I am a huge rossi fan, would like to see him spend more of his weekends working with ducati on bike set-up, etc. and maybe he wouldn't be finishing 10th in motogp races

Actually, Ducati doesn't listen to him, nor did they listen to Stoner.

Stoner openly criticized the front end numbness on the Ducatis. The fact is that Stoner is almost godlike on anything he rides. The reason Ducati doesn't win races is that they strive to be different, which on the street sells bikes, while on the track it's hit or miss.

What it boils down to chassis technology, until Ducati builds a frame similar to Yamaha and Honda, they'll suffer mediocrity until then.
