Danica Patrick Walks Away from Big Crash At Daytona

There was no Talladega Nights "Sake N' Bake" going on here for Danica as she luckily walks away from a big crash at Daytona International speedway yesterday. Danica was participating in the Gatorade Duel races which determine starting spots for this weekend's Daytona 500 NASCAR race. As noted by USA-today even the though Danica crashed out of her first NASCAR Sprint Cup race she gained credibility in the process.

Patrick was running 10th in the 150-mile race when she was bumped by Aric Almirola's No. 43 Ford that sent her spinning on the backstretch. Her No. 10 Stewart Haas Racing Chevy skidded across the track and slammed hard into the wall.

"It happened really quick," she said. "When it gets down to the end of the race, everybody is on each others doors really close. That's what happens. Unfortunately, I was part of it."

Reports are that Patrick emerged from the car and walked to the ambulance on her own. She was checked and released from the infield care center. Her Racing Chevrolet unfortunately didn't have the same positive outcome, it was totaled. Since she will have to use her backup car she'll start at the back of the pack for the Daytona 500. She certainly will have her work cut out for her this weekend.

Good news, glad to hear she walked away from it.
But i have to be honest, i'm surprised a forum like this even follows Nascar...

 

She's a smart cookie. But has she EVER won anything significant in her career?

 

That was a nasty hit. She can't be blamed for the crash though since she was hit hard from the right and pushed right around. Welcome to Nascar, Danica.

 

^nope. She's a woman in a sport dominated by males. I guess she thinks because she's a girl she can just race in whatever series she wants. She needs to just go back to Indy racing, shut her mouth, and try and win some races. Then maybe she should consider racing in NASCAR.

I have no problem with woman in racing whatsoever but he is so god damn whiney. A lot of male drivers now days are also and I can't stand them either. She will probably get thrown around all season, just being new, and cry the whole time.
