1989 Benetton F1 Car

1989 Benetton F1 Racing Car - Cosworth V8 DFV Engine

Found this guy on CL, thought it was pretty cool. I'm not promoting it and I don't know how legit it is, but it is pretty cool if it is real.

A race-winning Formula One car for sale - $220,000. USD

1989 Benetton Formula One racing car (B189) formerly piloted by F1 aces Alessandro Nannini and Johnny Herbert.

This Benetton B189 was completely rebuilt from tub up to final successful testing at Silverstone by the finest of fabricators Liaz Jakhara of the renowned ZUL RACING COMPANY in Derby, England and has been driven only on test days at Sears Point/Infineon Raceway since delivery.

This has been around a while, but it seems legit. Wonder how difficult it would be to drive and maintain on a regular basis.

Probably not easy. I imagine it would violate a lot of noise restrictions. So very limited opportunities to drive it. And maintenance would have to suck.

I meant track wise. F1 cars always require so much maintenance and rebuilds. Not sure it would be possible/feasible to do without being a technician yourself or having one.

Roughly: $50k for an engine per season. Another $30-40ish for care and feeding. And you're better off just buying another used one if you ever crash it.

I've built parts for a few people who run a few older chassis. They're very not cheap to keep happy.

If you want a cost effective open wheel track day car, pick up a Formula Atlantic and toss a turbo on it. ~$100k to purchase and set up, and pennies to run.
