As far as splitting a hotel room, I am willing to pay for the room up front, but I am going to make sure I don't get screwed with the bill. So if I can get 2-3 people to share a room with me I might just have them send me a check or paypal their portion in advance. Then I can hold it until I book and pay for the room.

 

If there's a Hilton anywhere I could possibly get a really good rate through them.
