Two of my many favorites. I also love the F40 LM but it has been posted already (esp. the French Blue car).

2001 R8 LM P1 Gulf livery

Aston Martin DBR9

Some of my favorite Can Am cars. Not beautiful in the traditional sense, but there is definitely a raw beauty in their simple purpose....be the fastest, most bad-ass machine on the planet at the time.

McLaren M20

McLaren M8 B Low Wing

Lola

900 hp big block, kinsler injection, 18" wide rear tires that still spin under hard acceleration

Early McLaren M8, love the blue stacks against the papaya orange

McLaren M8 E with gold stacks

The most bad-ass racing machine in racing history, the 917/30

I read the 917 did 0-60 in 1.9 seconds and had a top end of 258 MPH. Is that true?

^The amazing thing is how small those CanAm cars are in person. With the body panels removed they look like a go kart with 18" wide rear slicks and a huge motor. In the heyday of Can Am racing, the best drivers in the world raced them at their limits race after race.

Definitely "Balls of steel"
