This is a disgrace.
Andre Lotterer tries to lap the #7 Peugeot of Marc Gene which is several laps down. The french team however seems to forget what endurance racing is about..

Corvette Racing won
! Fantastic! Good to see Audi win with the #2 car. Must be an awesome feeling for those drivers being they are developmental drivers. Corvettes won both classes. Fantastic!

However, I was even more surprised when the SPEED commentators (specifically Scott Pruett) thought otherwise and believed Lotterer shouldn't have pushed so hard to pass Gene.
Well, as you could see by the close finish at the end of the race...it was vital that Lotterer pass Gene as soon as possible and not continue to be held up by the 4-laps down Peugeot. Even one lap behind Gene could have changed the outcome of this race. I was really disappointed in the SPEED commentators for thinking otherwise.

That battle between Peugeot and Audi with 6 1/2 hours left was awesome. I fell asleep with 6 hours left. I am not trying to be cocky or a jerk when I say this, What did Peugeot do that made them sore losers and dirty? I was focusing on the Corvettes and didn't really focus on the Peugeots. I am curious and by no means trying to inflame anything.

Saw some after-race footage and interviews with Bourdais and the Peugeot team leader (can't remember his name) and their attitude had a serious lack of sportsmanship (didn't hear them crediting Audi ONCE on their win) and were just being plain sore losers. The dirty riding aspect stems from them being sore losers, on many occasions you had Peugeots a few laps behind trying to block the Audi(s) from passing them. Anyway, I might seem like I'm exagerating a little but I wasn't impressed at all by Peugeot's attitude (they did put up a good fight at least).

Sure that Peugeot's driving was really just wrong, but why all the neagative feelings twords Peugeot? I was routing for Audi the whole race, but you have to hand it to ANY team of drivers that can put up such an entertaining race for more than 24 hours, and only leave a 15 second gap between 1st and 2nd. All of the Peugeot drivers and the whole Peugeot Total team did a fantastic job. Hurray for Audi, and great job to all the teams! But that doesn't give Peugeot an excuse for bumping the Audis around and blocking the #2 like that.(Even though they could have been sore losers, they put up a great race, and awesome entertainment) Watching the video of the Peugeot and Audi battle to overtake the #7 and lap him, when the Audi finally gets by, just look how close it was to being another disaster! If the Audi was just a little bit closer, not one Audi would have finished the race.
Just check out this classic battle between Audi and Peugeot.

I hope when Audi gets close to taking over Porsche's record 16 overall victories, Porsche is prompted to begin development on an LMP1 car.

Peugeot did well, but I was unimpressed with the events between Gene and Lotterer. While it was good hard racing to a certain extent, what really pissed me off was when the Peugeot team was interviewed just a few seconds after the Gene/Lotterer moments. When asked why Gene was driving so hard and making contact with the race leader despite being 4 laps down, their excuse was "we saw no blue flag". If they would have said something more masculine and honest along the lines of "we're doing what's in the best interest of our other car that has a chance to win the race", maybe I'd respect them more. But hiding behind excuses and pretending that they didn't see the Audi that flashed his bright lights on him for at least a minute leading up to those moments...that's just pathetic and cowardly. It's tough not to throw out the French barbs when actions are in my opinion "pathetic" or "cowardly".
