Ferrari mainly testing Aero. Swapped out multiple set-ups. Hopefully they have a great outing. They need it bad.

 

Wow, looks like Renault has some work to do in order to figure out what's causing the upright failures...hmm.

Webber dominating P1 is a bit irrelevant at this point. His 1:37.651 lap is still more than 3 seconds off of last year's pace, so nobody put in much effort for fast laps.

 

I personally would steer away from Renault this weekend, because both of them went out in spectacular fashion with brake problems, while Petrov also had serious brake and suspension issues, and ended up in the gravel. However, I am no expert of F1 Fantasy, just my 2 cents

 

Good point, but do you mean 3 seconds off the fastest time all weekend last year, or 3 seconds slower than the fastest time in P1? Because if him and others were only 3-4 seconds of last years race pace, in P1, then that is a pretty good effort, without pushing 100%.

F1 - Grand Prix Malaysia (Practice #2)

 

Webber's time is about 3 seconds off of last year's P1 times. Last year's times as a whole are pretty tainted due to the weather, so the fastest time last year was in P3 (Mark Webber - 1:33.542) instead of Q3. There's no way to know what the true qualifying times would have been since it rained throughout that Q-session. The fastest lap during the race was Webber also (1:37.054), but fastest race laps are quite a bit slower than the fastest qualifying laps. If you compare the practice times to the qualifying times from the Australian GP, the fastest Q-time was a full second faster than the fastest P-time, so with that same logic I'm guesstimating we'll see laps below 1:32 in qualifying if the weather holds up. There's no reason these cars shouldn't be quicker than they were last year.
