I hope he's right. I'd love to see Hamilton have a strong start this finish but I'm just not 100% confident in the car.

I'm a McLaren fan, but in my opinion, Alonso is just saying this to be polite.

Does anyone really expect him to badmouth the team to the press? That would only give them extra motivation to develop the car, which could end up biting Ferrari in the ass.

I'm not sure what to make of the -26, but I remain optimistic. Even the -24 was turned into a race winner.

A McLaren that is a "potential race winner" is a failure to McLaren. If they're not putting a "championship contender" they're flipping out - let's keep it in perspective.

That is how I read it too.

I saw it as a backhanded slap to McLaren.

What the hell does "challenge for podiums" mean??

Anything but talk of a World Championship patronizes McLaren.

Nice psychological warfare by Alonso though.
