You just made my day! Here is the Reader's Digest version.

Back in 2008 my friend Claus Ettesnberger - of CEC fame - hosted Lewis Hamilton on his first trip to California back in the summer of 2008 - just after he won the Grand Prix of Monaco.

Back then Claus was the exclusive NA distributor for Brabus, Techart and Novitech Rosso.

The Brabus Newport Beach sales manager - my good friend Andreas Hartman - texted me that Lewis would be at the Brabus showroom at a certain time the next day.

I figured that I was one of many that would be fighting for autographs. But when we got there, we were the only people there!

He walked in the door with Force India driver Adrian Sutil. He shook our hands and was extremely friendly and talkative. He joked about my McLaren cap from 2007 that listed him as the #2 driver.

So for a couple of hours Lewis Hamilton, Adrian Sutil, Claus Ettensberger and my son Paul just sat around on the showroom couches and shot the shit.

At one point we went to look at some of the cars in the showroom. He was particularly impressed with the big tuned SUVs.

Then he saw my car in the parking lot and said "what's that?!"

He liked the way I had modded it and got inside. At one point I got my camera out and wanted to take a picture of freaking Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton in the driver's seat of MY CAR! But his representatives that were with him said that he could not be photographed inside of any cars that he was not under contract to endorse.

Then he asked if he could drive it and we took it for a spin around Newport Beach. He had that thing sideways most of the time. I kept looking over at him and thinking "that is Lewis Hamilton driving my car . . ."

When we got back to the showroom he let us take some pics with him. They started off just like regular shots. But by the end we were all having a great time and mugging for the camera.

He is a very nice young man and treated us like family that day. He signed every single piece of memorabilia we brought. He called us by name and said that we should meet up again.

It was a great experience.
