Alzilla is going racing! Viva la Chump Car!

Got the car all ready to go and we left to get dinner only to get a call from one of our teammates who took it upon himself to try to reflash the ECU with an updated tune and accidentally installed the tune from V6 Contour on the I4 zetec in the Escort and now it won't run. To run home and get the correct tuner to flash the ECU with the right tune is a 3 hr drive. Fuuuuuuu.
Sometimes I hate racing on a team...

Oh man, what a whirlwind of a day! Just got back to the hotel after 14 long hours of racing and close to 16 hrs at the track.
We ran a superb race with everyone on the team pulling their weight and putting down some great lap times. We stayed between 3rd and 4th place pretty much all day with a high position of 2nd before we had to come into the pits after about around 12 hours in due to transponder issues. Things went to hell once the sun went down however with our lap times quickly increasing by 20-30 sec over what they were earlier in the day because there aren't any lights around the track and our brake pads were worn down completely. Coming in to replace pads would have guaranteed us a spot in 4th, while staying out meant we had a shot at keeping 3rd place despite the 4th place car reeling us in.
With 30 min to go, we destroyed an axle and the car lost drive. We ended up finishing 6th. This was the first time anything had broken on the Escort we were running, despite relentlessly beating on it.
I'm so bummed. All that work, blood, and sweat, and no glory. Still had a blast though so I guess that's all that really matters.

I'll post a bunch of pics in the next few days. I'm so exhausted from my two stints today. I normally get a night to sleep it off before I have to get back in the car but I only had a few hours to rest between stints today. There were some amazing racing today and I was honestly chasing down some cars that were should've been a couple seconds a lap faster than our car.
We took the Escort this time and it's so much lighter and more tossable than the Contour around this track. You really can't get into too much trouble unless you drive it like an absolute bonehead. It's way more fun than the Contour so I'm actually really excited to drive this car in the Chumpionship in a couple of months.
