Post Di Resta to debut, Hulkenberg to drive on Fridays

Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil will race Force India's 2011 cars, with Nico Hulkenberg moving into the third cockpit role.

That is the claim of the Swiss newspaper Blick, reporting that the news will be confirmed officially in the coming days.

Vitantonio Liuzzi has therefore been ousted, despite having a contract with the Silverstone based team for another season.

Blick also said Hulkenberg, the impressive German rookie who was replaced at Williams by Pastor Maldonado, will drive during the Friday morning sessions at grands prix.

"I actually wanted Nico to be the third driver at McLaren," revealed Hulkenberg's famous manager Willi Weber.

"But Martin Whitmarsh was worried that it would be seen as a threat to Button so he didn't want to disrupt the harmony in the team for their championship hunt," he added.

Blick's veteran correspondent Roger Benoit also reports that Toro Rosso is set to be bought by Arab investors.

It's a shame to see Hulkenberg dropped down to a 3rd driver for Force India. I saw some potential from his rookie season.

+1,000,000,000,... he deserves a seat over Petrov as far as rookies go

Can't blame Nico though, he's better off being the 3rd driver on a decent team than a #1 driver for one of those backmarker teams...he's awaiting his turn and it'll pay off in a couple of years.

^^^Ever heard of Christian Klein? you gotta stay in the limelight in F1. From racer to reserve isn't good, especially when you actually got talent and you're young. But I do agree with you and its sad that a reserve there is better than racing for one of the "F2" teams

Hulkenberg didn't have the financial backing.

This is a great move for Force India though.

What a sweet contingency plan if Di Resta is a bust.
