SOFTER BARRIERS BEGIN LINING THE WALLS OF PBIR ROAD COURSE
Jupiter, Fla. (June 3, 2010) – In another effort to further increase safety at Palm Beach International Raceway, the facility has received and is currently installing 1,060 ft. of softer barriers. The walls are primarily for the safety at the motorcycle events hosted on PBIR’s two-mile, 11-turn road course.
“We are so happy to have another 1060 feet of soft walls here at PBIR,” said Chris Festa, road course manager. “These walls are a huge safety benefit to motorcycle racing in that they dampen the energy shock when a rider has an impact with the wall so the energy is not absorbed by the body. Our main goal here is safety so in a couple of areas where there is little run off, we will actually double stack the soft walls to help minimize the risk of an injury.”
The next motorcycle event is tomorrow night, June 4, starting at 5 p.m. It’s an open test and tune session and a live band will be playing on the drag strip side.
The test and tune session is open for anyone who owns a bike. All that is required is the proper safety gear (leather suit, bots, gloves, and full face helmet).
